Nihonshu, commonly refered to as \u2018sake\u2019 in English, is a traditional alcoholic beverage in Japan. It is made through fermentation, like beer and wine.<\/p>\n

Ginjoshu is made by a special method called ginjo-tsukuri using well polished rice. Ginjoshu requires a lot of labor and cost to produce. The biggest feature is the delicate aroma called ginjoko, which is reminiscent of fruits such as apples, melons and bananas. Highly aromatic ginjoshu loses its aroma when heated, so it is served at room temperature or chilled.<\/p>\n

It is because adding distilled alcohol to ginjoshu balances the flavor. Also, distilled alcohol has the effect of dissolving the components of ginjoko, which can easily get absorbed by yeast and rice that are removed as sake cakes, back into the sake. Using distilled alcohol tends to enhance ginjoko.<\/p>\n
